Best Lyrics Contest 2027 — Rules
Last updated: 11 October 2026
The UpSkilliT Studio Best Lyrics Contest ("Contest") is run by UPSKILLIT TRAINING SOLUTIONS PRIVATE LIMITED, 715-A, 7th Floor, Spencer Plaza, Suite No. 183, Mount Road, Anna Salai, Chennai 600002 ("we", "us"). By submitting an entry you agree to these rules and to the Terms of Service.
1. Dates
- Entries open on 5 January 2027 and close on 31 January 2027 at 11:59 pm IST.
- Results are announced on 14 February 2027 on studio.upskillit.com and by email.
- Only 20 new entries are accepted each day (first come, first served). The count resets at midnight IST. The page shows how many places are left today. You can change your own entry any time before the closing date.
2. Who can take part
- College students (UG, PG or PhD) studying in India, 18 years or older.
- One entry per person. You must sign in and verify your mobile number; one mobile number = one person = one entry.
- Employees of UpSkilliT and the judges' family members cannot win prizes.
3. How to enter
- Write your own lyrics in any language (at least 4 lines; 8–16 lines is ideal).
- Make your song on studio.upskillit.com (Song tab). New verified accounts get free credits, enough to make a song — no payment is needed to take part.
- Submit on studio.upskillit.com/contest: choose your song (or paste its share link), add your college details and a short English meaning of your lyrics, and tick the two declarations.
4. Your lyrics must be your own
- The lyrics must be written by you. Lyrics copied from films, albums, poems, websites or other people, the example lyrics on our website, or lyrics written by AI tools (such as ChatGPT or Gemini) are not allowed.
- Family-friendly content only. No hate, no sexual content, no names of famous people, nothing illegal.
- Finalists may be asked to write a few lines live on a given theme (online or by phone). We may disqualify any entry we reasonably believe is copied or AI-written, at any stage, including after results.
5. Judging
- Only the lyrics are judged — not the AI music or the singing. Marks: originality 30, emotion and meaning 30, craft (rhyme, rhythm, imagery) 25, overall impression 15.
- Entries in all languages are welcome. Judges read the lyrics in the original language where possible and use your English meaning to understand them.
- The judges' decision is final.
6. Prizes
- 1st prize ₹5,000 · 2nd prize ₹3,000 · 3rd prize ₹2,000, paid by bank transfer or UPI within 30 days of the results to the winner's own account, after we verify identity (college ID and a government ID), age and enrolment.
- Taxes, if any apply to a prize under Indian law (for example TDS), are handled as the law requires.
- Every valid entry gets an e-certificate of participation by email; finalists and winners get special certificates. The certificate shows the name you type in the entry form ("Name on certificate"), your college and your award, and has a certificate ID with a public check page (studio.upskillit.com/cert/ID), so anyone can confirm it is genuine.
- If a winner cannot be verified or contacted within 14 days, the prize may pass to the next-ranked entry.
7. Your rights and ours
- You keep the rights to your lyrics. By entering, you allow us to show your lyrics, song, name, college and photo (only if you send one) on studio.upskillit.com and our social media to announce and promote the Contest, with credit to you.
- Songs are AI-generated and carry our AI label as required by law (see Terms 4b).
- We use your details only to run the Contest, contact you and send certificates (see Privacy).
8. Changes
We may change these rules, the dates or the daily limit, or cancel the Contest if something outside our control makes it impossible to run fairly. Any change is shown on this page and on the contest page. Questions: Contact us (jag@upskillit.com).
